Periennal Birthday

Periennal Birthday

Just Add Ink set the card challenge #422 "Just Choose Two" where you choose two of the following on your card project:

I also used this particular project for another challenge but there is no winner of this challenge; the projects are all just shown in an album on FaceBook.  The FaceBook Group - Stampin FOR ALL's administrator Ian Potter set a Card Sketch Challenge this week and this is the sketch dimensions below:

So my project for Just Add Ink and Stampin FOR ALL is photographed below.  I used the card sketch from  Stampin FOR ALL and I used embossing powder and an embossing folder for Just Add Ink.

To recreate my project you will need:

  • Stampin' Up 'Perennial Birthday' stamp set
  • White card stock card base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8") scored at (4 1/8"), folded and burnished.
  • Gorgeous Grape card stock (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") which is adhered straight to the card base.
  • White card stock (5 3/8 x 3 5/8") which is going to be stamped on.
  • Gorgeous Grape card stock scraps (5 1/2 x 1 1/4") & (1 3/4 x 1 3/4")
  • White card stock scraps (5 7/16 x 1 4/16") & ( 1 10/16 x 1 10/16")
  • Inks: Gorgeous Grape, Highland Heather, Garden Green, Memento Black, Versamark
  • White embossing powder
  • Wink of Stella
  • Purple Nuvo drops
  • Stampin' Up Floral Affection Embossing Folder - to emboss flap of envelope.
So to the main part of the project - the embossing!  On the piece of white card stock cover this with the embossing buddy first; then stamp the floral image using Versamark all over the card stock and then do the same with the leaves image.  Put white embossing powder all over the images and heat set.  All time to dry.  Initially, using a sponge dauber and the Gorgeous Grape ink sponge over the embossed images.  Then with the lighter ink, Highland Heather sponge in all the gaps covering all the white card stock.  Clean the embossed images with a soft cloth to remove excess ink.

On the square piece of white card stock stamp the image in Gorgeous grape and Garden Green; repeat this on the envelope and inside the card base.  When dry add a bit of Wink of Stella to the floral images.  On the other piece of white card stock, stamp the sentiment 'HAPPY BIRTHDAY' and also the sentiment 'Happy Mail' on the front of the envelope along with the image of the duckling delivering some mail.  This helps the recipient of this card to know that they are not receiving a bill!  All the pieces of card stock were adhered using double sided tape and the only pieces that were 'popped up' on foam pads were the square with the stamped images and the long rectangle piece with the sentiment on it.

I added some purple Nuvo drops to the project as extra embellishment.

If you enjoyed finding out how I created my project, please let me know through feedback/comments below, thank you.  Until next time, keep crafting!

Take Me To The Sea

Take Me To The Sea

My project I have created related to this theme is photographed below.  I used the Stampin' Up "Magical Mermaid" stamp set for my card.

To recreate my project you will need:

  • Stampin' Up 'Magical Mermaid' stamp set
  • White card stock (8 1/4 x 5 7/8") scored at (4 1/8") folded and burnished.
  • Night of Navy card stock (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") - stencil tone-on-tone with Night of Navy ink the wave stencil all over this piece of card stock.
  • Patterned paper from craft stash that had hombre blues and greys - looked like under the sea.  This was stamped with the sea bed, sea weed and bubbles and then cut into (x3) (5 x 1") pieces.
  • White scrap card stock to stamp the mermaid in Black Memento ink and some additional seaweed too - leave to dry.
  • Night of Navy card stock (2 1/4 x 1") - use embossing buddy on this before stamping sentiment 'have a Magical birthday' in Versamark and heat setting copper embossing powder.  Punch two holes either side of the sentiment using the Detailed Trio Punch.
  • Using inks and Aqua pen to paint seaweed and mermaid, when ink is dry adhere seaweed inside card base using wet glue and put Wink of Stella on mermaid's tail and rhinestones in her hair.
  • (x8) rhinestones, (x5) for Mermaid's hair and (x3) for rest of card.  (x1) blue rhinestone for sentiment.
  • Blue Baker's Twine - to thread through punched holes in sentiment card stock and around card stock.
Putting together the card is fairly easy, all card stock and patterned paper is adhered flat with double sided tape.  The Mermaid and sentiment are popped up on foam pads.  The only additional part of this project was the envelope where I stamped the top of the Mermaid in the bottom right-hand corner in Black Memento ink and I stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" and the image of the duckling delivering a letter in the top left-hand corner.  (This helps the recipient of this card know that it is not a bill!)

If you have enjoyed finding out about my project, please let me know by leaving me some feedback/comments below, thank you.  Till next time, keep crafting!

Follow Your Dream - Crafting Afternoon

Follow Your Dream - Crafting Afternoon

Two Stampin' Up Demonstrators Anna Pickering and Gemma Pidcock put on a 'Follow Your Dream' crafting afternoon at Create Cafe in Wakefield.  During the afternoon we were using the Stampin' Up stamp and die set 'Follow Your Dream' to create a number of projects which are photographed below.  Not only did we come home with beautiful projects to use, but we learnt new techniques, were gifted the brayer we used in photograph (1) and also were gifted a beautifully decorated Stampin' Up Pizza box with a 'Follow Your Dream' project in to create when we got home; which is photograph (4).

So for the project in photograph (1), firstly we used the brayer to create a hombre effect inked background.  Then splattered with some darker inks.  Stamped spot splatter (from 'Magical Mermaid' stamp set) and heat embossed this with gold embossing powder.  Stamped the word 'BIG' from stamp set and heat embossed this with gold embossing powder too.  Stamped a dream catcher in dark pink ink then die cut circular pattern die in Crumb cake card stock and die cut the word 'dream' in Rich Razzleberry card stock.  For the final part of this project we had to use the Stamparatus, we stamped the feather images in Rich Razzleberry (x6) each time moving the Stamparatus plate down one notch.  Then returning to the top notch, this time with a dauber adding Versamark to the bottom of the feathers and then heat setting all the feathers with gold embossing powder.  These were then die cut out using the Big Shot.  The putting together of this project is fairly self explanatory but if you need further support please leave me a comment below, thank you.

Photograph 2 - this was a Pool Party card stock base (top folding); with a white layer and some white scraps.  So initially, with a Black marker pen free-hand create a border around the edge of the white card stock.  Then stamp the sentiment 'FOLLOW YOUR dreams' in Black Memento ink at the bottom of the white card stock.  Using the circular dream catcher die, die cut this about (1 1/2") from the top of the white card stock.  On the white scraps die cut (x6) feathers (arrange these top to tail in order to get more on the scrap and this is going to be used in a later project so try to keep them die cuts as neat as possible).  Stamp the floral image in Black Memento ink, die cut this out and then colour in with Pool Party marker pen.  To put this project together initially, the white card stock was adhered to the card base using double sided tape, the dream catcher die cut piece was adhered using a small foam pad cut in half. The floral image and the tops of the feathers were adhered using wet glue.
We made two of this design.

Photograph (3), this project is all straight onto the white card stock base.  Die cut a circular dream catcher in black card stock and adhered down about (1") from the top with wet glue.  Die cut a dream catcher with feathers in white card stock and adhered this onto the centre of the black one.  Stamp in  pink ink (x3) images of the feathers and die cut these out and arrange them on top and underneath the dream catcher.  Die cut sentiment 'dream' in black card stock and adhere to card stock.  Finally, stamp the word 'BIG' in Black Memento Ink underneath the die cut 'dream'.  We made two of this project too.

So we came away with 5 completed cards ready to be put into envelopes and added to our card stash.  But it wasn't over there, before I adhered the dark brown card stock on photograph (1) I always cut something from these layers because you cannot see the holes when it is adhered to the top layer so you are being frugal with your card stock.  I die cut (x2) of the word die 'dream' which I took home.  I also took home the negatives of my feathers from Photograph (2) and some extra embossed feathers from Photograph (1).  But I had my brayer and my beautifully decorated pizza box too!

Inside the pizza box was all the elements to make a dream catcher using (x2) of Stampin' Up pearlised doilies.  (x2) frames cut out using Stampin' Up stitched circle framelits, a piece of Pool Party Baker's Twine and several lengths of beautiful (1/8") ribbon.  All I needed to add to these elements was some wet glue to the doilies and some small foam pads to adhere the circular frames to the doilies.  The ribbons were all threaded through the holes on the outer edge of the doilies and knotted.

It was the most fabulous afternoon spent crafting with like-minded people who love to craft too!

Till next time, keep crafting!

Birthday Blooms

Birthday Blooms

My entry for this challenge incorporates a Stampin' Up stamp set called "Birthday Blooms" which is now retired.

This is what you will need in order to re-create my project:

- Black card stock (8 1/4 x 5 7/8")  scored at (4 1/8") folded and burnished.
- White card stock (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") to be adhered inside the card base after a single bloom has been         stamped in black Memento ink in the left-hand bottom corner.
-  (x2) pieces of foiled DSP (Patterned Paper) (6 x1 1/4") and (4 x 1").  On the (4 x 1") piece stamp
sentiment "dear FRIEND" (from the same stamp set) and heat set with clear embossing powder.
- (x3) punched gold foil circles using a hole punch.
- A piece of gold foil card stock (4 x 2 3/4"), round the corners with a punch.
- A piece of black card stock (3 7/8 x 2 5/8"), round the corners with a punch.  Stamp the largest
floral bloom in stamp set with Versamark and heat set with gold embossing powder.  Paint with the
gold paint from Coliro Artist Mica Watercolor Set of 6 Pearl Colors by Finetec.  After this is dry, reposition
the card stock into the stamp positioner and stamp with Versamark Black ink.
- Stamp the sentiment "Happy Mail" and the duckling image holding the envelope onto the top left        hand corner of the envelope.  This ensures that the recipient of this card knows it is not a bill!

Putting the project together is quite simple, I did not want too much bulk on this project.  So the DSP is adhered with double sided tape.  The black card stock with the floral image on it is adhered the same way to the gold foil card stock.  (NB:  remember to always punch or die cut a shape out of the middle of your card stock or foils before using them as backing.  Being frugal with your craft stash means that you get to buy new things!)  The (x3) gold foil circles are adhered using small glue dots.  Finally, the floral image is 'popped up' with foam pads to give some dimension to the project.

If you have enjoyed finding out about my project, please leave me some feedback/comments as I find this very important for my future creations.

I also used this card as part of the FaceBook Group Stamp With Joy's weekly card sketch challenge.  This is week 30.

Thank you again for coming to my blog page, till next time, keep crafting!

Tranquil Tulip in Copper

Tranquil Tulip in Copper

The card sketch challenge for the FaceBook Group - Stamp with Joy Week 32 is this:

My take on this week's challenge is this:

I was very late putting this project together but I had in my head what I wanted to use on it.  A great crafting friend of mine, Brenda Harrison; who purchased the Stampin' Up 'Tranquil Tulip' stamp set for me.  So I wanted a project that would show off this wonderful stamp set but also be a good image to be able to split into three pieces.

So I started with a white card base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8" scored at 4 1/8") and a black card stock layer (5 5/8 x 3 7/8").  I then cut (x3) pieces (6 x 4.5 cm); I joined them at the back with masking tape and then used my embossing buddy all over it.  I then stamped my floral images in Versamark, added copper embossing powder and heat set it.  I punched a black shape from the Tailor Punch and did the same but stamped the sentiment 'Birthday Wishes' in copper as well.  I separated the black card stock pieces and cut white card stock to give a very small 1/8th border.  I punched another Tailor Punch in white and this I cut in half and adhered each half behind the black shape.  Adding the card stock together with double sided tape helped to stretch out where the black had been heat embossed.  I felt that there was something missing; so I stamped the front of the tulips in Versamark, added copper embossing powder and heat set.  These two pieces I fussy cut out with my Snips and added them to the images with foam pads to give dimension.

In my craft stash I found a piece of Copper Tulle, so I cut a piece to go over the black card stock vertically before I laid the (x3) image pieces.  These were popped up on foam pads as well.  The final embellishment was to put (x3) Copper Nuvo drops at the top right-hand corner of the card base.

I decided to leave anything else on this card, inside and on the envelope.  I did stamp my 'Happy Mail' sentiment on the envelope and the duckling delivering the mail.  If you have any feedback/comments that you would like to give me about this project, please do.  Thank you for coming to see my latest project and I hope to see you again.

Till next time, keep crafting!

Daisy, Daisy

Daisy, Daisy

Cotswold Crafter's Card Sketch Challenge was this:

This is my take on this sketch.  I decided to use my favourite Stampin' Up stamp set "Daisy Delight" for the main image of my project.  I had in the past purchased the DSP (Patterned Paper) for this stamp set but I have been hoarding it I am afraid.  So it seemed a great time to break into it.

So I started with a Mossy Meadow card stock base (8 1/4 x 5 3/4 scored at 4 1/8").  The next layer I cut was a Balmy Blue layer (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") and then I cut two pieces of the beautiful patterned paper for the top mat (5 3/8 x 3 5/8").  These were adhered onto the card base with double sided tape because there is quite a lot of depth with the rest of the embellishments.

In my craft stash I found a gold foil die cut strip which was slightly longer than the card base vertically; so adhered with wet glue and and cut the excess off.  I then stamped the daisy image (x3) in Peek-a-Boo Peach and the centre too (but I stamped off the centre first before stamping the flower detailed centre).  I did the same with the leaves, I stamped off with the Mossy Meadow for the leaves that I wanted the detail on.

The daisies were punched out and I glued these together (I bent the petals slightly using my bone folder); the leaves I fussy cut out with my Snips.  The Daisy was adhered onto the  card front with two foam pads on top of each other.  I stamped the daisy image inside the card and on the envelope too.  On the top of the envelope I also stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" and the image of the duckling delivering the mail which helps the recipient of my card knows that they are not getting a bill!

Final embellishment was the buttons and the sentiment.  The gold sticker sentiment 'Best Wishes', I got from my craft stash; as I did the (x4) buttons (blue, pink, yellow and green).

Thank you for joining me on my blog to celebrate my take on the Cotswold Crafter's Card Sketch Challenge, if you want to see any other of the projects made click on the underlined words.  If you would like to leave me some feedback/comments I would really appreciate that.

Till next time, keep crafting!

Colourful Dragons

Colourful Dragons

My Colour Challenge Project using these colours is:

Initially, I used my paper trimmer to cut a Lavender card base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8" scored at 4 1/8"), then I cut (x2) white card stock layers (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") one for the outside as a layer and the other inside the card for the greeting to be written on.  Then I found a piece of patterned paper with the flowers on it that was recognisably lilacs, mauves and lavenders as the mat (5 3/8 x 3 5/8").  These were adhered straight onto each other with double sided tape.

Then on the white piece of card stock (1 x 3 1/2") I stamped the sentiment 'Here's a Birthday Flyby'.  I stamped a dragon on the inside white card stock too.  On some scrap white card stock I stamped the big dragon and the little dragon.  On the envelope, I stamped the little dragon and the sentiment "Happy Mail" along with the image of the duckling delivering the letter; which helps the recipient of this card know that they are not receiving a bill!

I coloured my two images of the the dragons in peaches and corals from my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Markers range of pens. I fussy cut these two images out using my snips.  White highlights were added to the dragons using my white gel pen and Lilac Nuvo Drops were put in groups on the sentiment card stock.  The sentiment and the images of the dragons were popped up on foam pads.  This completed my project.

If you have enjoyed my project today and want to give me some feedback/comments that would be great, thank you.  Till the next project, keep crafting!

Mission Control We Have a Birthday

Mission Control We Have a Birthday

MFTs Wednesday Sketch Challenge #396 is as photographed below:

My interpretation of the Sketch Challenge is as follows:

Initially I started out cutting a dark blue card base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8" scored at 4 1/8") and cut a layer in
black card stock (5 5/8 x 3 7/8").  I also found in my craft stash some DSP (Patterned paper) that looked fabulous as the space background (5 x 2 3/4") and a scrap of black card stock to go across this to match the sketch (2 3/4 x 1").  I also found a piece of white card stock (3 x 3/4") in my craft stash suitable for the sentiment.

I used Bristol Smooth 270g white card stock to stamp all the images out on from MFTs "Space Explorer" stamp set.  These were then coloured in using my Spectrum Noir Alcohol Marker Pens and the dies used to die cut them out on the Big Shot.  Whilst the ink was out I stamped on the envelope a rocket and a star in Black Memento Ink and also the sentiment 'Happy Mail' with the image of the duckling delivering the mail.  This ensures that the recipient of this card knows that it is not a bill!

The black card stock and DSP (Patterned paper) were both adhered straight onto the card base using double sided tape.  The sentiment was cut into a banner by cutting a pennant at the right-hand side.  The sentiment "Mission Control We Have a Birthday", the astronaut, the rocket, the stars and planets were all popped up on foam pads to give the card some dimension.

This completed my project, if you enjoyed finding out how I put together my project please come again, leave me some feedback/comments thank you.  Till next time, keep crafting!

Varied Vases in Three Colours

Varied Vases in Three Colours

My decision on looking at these colours was to use my Stampin' Up 'Varied Vases' Stamp set.  This is my project created with these three colours.

So first I have a 'Whisper White' card stock base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8" scored at 4 1/8") with a layer of Stampin' Up 'Lovely Lipstick' card stock (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") and then a mat of Stampin' Up 'Whisper White' card stock (5 3/8 x 3 5/8").

The white mat has had two opposite corners rounded using Stampin' Up "Detailed Trio" punch and using the same punch the other two corners have had the floral pattern punched.

In the past I had created a stencil using one of the dies from Stampin' Up 'Oh So Eclectic' stamp set; so I used this to sponge out the image using one of the ink colours Bermuda Bay.  Then I punched out two sets of the vases in 'Lovely Lipstick' card stock using the 'Vases Builder' punch.  I stamped the patterned images onto each vase using Night of Navy ink.  The Night of Navy was also used to stamp the shelves and both the sentiments.  The Bermuda Bay ink was used to stamp out the flowers in the long vases and I also stamped all three vases inside the card using this ink colour also.  I used the Lovely Lipstick ink to stamp out the outline of the flowers in one of the vases on the top shelf and stamped off for 2nd generation inking for a paler colour to fill the flowers in.

Lovely Lipstick card stock was used with the Stampin' Up 'Tailor Tag' punch to create a layer behind the sentiment which was stamped onto a die cut stitched oval in Whisper White card stock (2 x 1 1/4").  The layer and mat card stocks were adhered using double sided tape; as was the oval sentiment to the Tailor Tag.  But the vases and the Tailor Tag were popped up using foam pads to give the card some dimension.

On the front of the envelop I stamped three flower heads in Black Versamark and also stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" and another image of a duckling delivering the mail; so that the recipient of this card knows it is not a bill!

If you have enjoyed seeing how I put my project together, please leave me some feedback/comments thank you.  Till next time, keep crafting!

Petal Palette Pretty Polly

Petal Palette Pretty Polly

FaceBook Group - Stampin' For All administrator Gez Carpenter set a Card Sketch Challenge.  The Card Sketch is photographed below:

I kept looking at the sketch and nothing initially came to me to what to use in this particular card sketch.  But then when I was on Gez's Blog Page she had used Stampin' Up 'Petal Palette' stamp set in another project and I knew that was what I was going to use on my card sketch.  My interpretation of the card sketch is below:

I cut a card base from Stampin' Up 'Mint Macaron' card stock (8 1/4 x 5 7/8" scored at 4 1/8") and cut a layer in Basic black (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") and a mat in Grey Granite (5 3/8 x 3 5/8").  I adhered the Grey and Black layers together using double sided tape and put these aside whilst I completed the rest of the card.

On the Big Shot, I die cut out (x3) scalloped squares and I then cut (x3) squares in White card stock.  So in Black Memento ink I stamped (x3) images from the Stampin' Up 'Petal Palette' stamp set.  I stamped the bird, one of the floral images and the sentiment "Thank You", each one on a separate white square.  When these were dry, I adhered them straight onto the Mint Macaron scalloped squares.

I went into my craft stash of ribbon and picked a yellow which was (1/2") wide and a thin Pink ribbon.  I adhered the Yellow ribbon vertically to the left-hand side of the card base.  The I adhered the Pink ribbon along the middle of the Yellow on.  The scalloped squares were on foam pads to give the card some dimension and also to that I had time to move them around before pushing them down firmly.  I stamped the floral image inside the card as well as on the envelope to take the theme through the different elements of this project.  This part of the card was then adhered to the card base using double sided tape.

For embellishment I used my NUVO Crystal Drops in 'Neptunes Turquoise' to create different sized faceted dots.  I tapped these flat on the back of the card base.  (These have to be left flat for at least 24 hours to dry).

On the envelope I stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" and the image of the duckling delivering the mail; to ensure that the recipient of this card knows that it is not a bill!

Thank you for coming to my Blog Page to see my latest project.  If you have like it please leave me some feedback/comments, thank you.  Till next time, keep crafting!

Pocket Full of Pansies

Pocket Full of Pansies

My interpretation of this Card Sketch is photographed below.  I used the resources from Issue 11 'Make Special Cards' Magazine which provided patterned papers, push-out die-cuts etc.

I cut a light blue card base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8 scored at 4 1/8") and then used a piece of Stampin' Up from the "Nature's Poem" DSP for the layer (5 5/8 3 7/8") and another piece of this DSP from the reverse side cut 1/8th smaller so that the scalloped squares had an alternative colour to be on.

The Big Shot was used to die cut (x4) scalloped squares in the same DSP as the layer.  I then cut on the trimmer (x4) smaller squares for the Pansies to sit on.  I used the push-out Die Cut pieces for the Pansies, the leaves, the Sentiment, the bow, the stitched Rik Rak ribbon too.  All the layers and images were adhered flat with double sided tape because of the sheer number of layers this would have been too bulky if there had been dimensionals as well!

To complete my project, I stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" on the front of the envelope along with the image of the duckling delivering the mail.  This ensures that the recipient of this card knows it is not a bill!

If you have enjoyed this projects, please leave me some feedback/comments thank you.  Till next time, keep crafting!

Owl Birthday Wishes

Owl Birthday Wishes

My interpretation of this card sketch is photographed below:-

First I cut a card base out of Stampin' Up "Call Me Clover" card stock (8 1/4 x 5 7/8" scored at 4 1/8") and a layer out of "Coastal Cabana" (5 5/8 x 3 7/8").

On the Big Shot I die cut half a scalloped circle for the top of the card.  I then looked in my scraps folders (where I keep all the smaller pieces of card stock that are still useable but not big enough for a layer or mat) for some pieces for the banners.  I came across a piece of patterned paper with owls on it!  Ideal for this project and so I looked for another piece to go with this too.  I cut the pennant ends with my snipes and adhered the banners to the layer using double sided tape.  I also adhered the white scalloped circle with double sided tape as well.

In my embellishment box I knew that I had some owl buttons because I love owls, so I went to see what one would be suitable.  I found a lovely little brown own button - ideal!  Using Stampin' Up 'Night of Navy' Baker's twine I threaded this through the button and around the card layer twice before bringing it back up through the other hole in the button.  The owl button was secured using a glue dot and I tied a knot in the Baker's twine and cut off the excess.  I put a bit of wet glue onto the end of the Baker's twine and pushed this back into the button holes to make the front of the button neat.

I have just received my Issue 127 Papercraft Essentials magazine and in that there were some stamps one which was a suitable sized sentiment "Birthday Wishes"; which I stamped at a jaunty angle at the bottom of the card stock layer using Black Versamark ink.  Inside the card I had adhered a piece of white card stock (5 5/8 x 3 7/8") so that a greeting could be written; but I also stamped an image of some grasses and flowers from the same set of stamps from the magazine.  I repeated this on the envelope as well.  Also on the envelope, I stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" and the image of the duckling delivering the mail so that the recipient of this card would know it was not a bill!

If you have enjoyed this project, please leave me some feedback/comments thank you.  Till next time, keep crafting!

Hello Baby

Hello Baby

This is my interpretation of the sketch challenge.

I used a light pink card base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8" scored at 4 1/8") with a stripy piece of DSP (decorated patterned paper) measuring (5 5/8 x 3 7/8").  On this I stamped "Hello Baby" in light pink ink.  I then cut 3 squares (1 1/4") in the same pink card stock as the card base.

On some scrap white card stock I stamp the images of the three baby toys (the bear, the rabbit and the lamb) and I coloured these in with inks as near to the colours in the stripes in the DSP.  When dry I used my black gel pen just to brighten up their eyes.

In my craft stash I found some Vanilla (1") ribbon and some Pink Tulle ribbon as well.  I laid the Vanilla piece across the DSP and then put the Pink on top dropping it down slightly.  These were adhered at the back of the DSP.  The pink squares were then adhered to the ribbon and the images popped up on dimensionals on these squares.

To complete my project I adhered pink sequins all over the DSP and glued a small pearl into each sequin as well.  On the envelope I stamped the image of the baby with the umbrella and the sentiment again 'Hello Baby'.  I also stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" and the image of the duckling delivering the mail" so that the recipient of this card would know that they were not getting a bill!

Although I had created this project for the Facebook Group Weekly Card Sketch Challenge; I also knew that my son's partner's sister was having a little baby girl very shortly.  We got the news that Lola Jayne was born last night (3.8.2018) and Mum and baby are doing well!

If you liked my project please leave me some feedback/comments, thank you. Till next time, keep crafting!

It's Your Birthday

It's Your Birthday

IN(K)Spire_Me's Challenge #360 is to use any of the card sketches/colour combinations from over the past 7 years (as they have turned 7 years old) from the Archives.

I spent a long time looking through the Archives and thoroughly enjoyed this.  I choose my sketch challenge and wrote down the number on my ReMarkable.  But when I came to start writing this blog did I remember that I had written the number down - NO!  I spent some considerable time going through the archives again until I suddenly remembered that I had written the sketch challenge number down.  (Year 2011, #017)  This is the sketch challenge I chose.

This is my version of the card sketch above:

I am also going to use this card project for a Tic Tac Toe Challenge this week set by Sandra Riley for the FaceBook Group - "Stampin For All".  The Tic Tac Toe board looks like this:

So initially I created a Very Vanilla card base (8 1/4 x 5 7/8 scored at 4 1/8") and an additional Very Vanilla layer (5 5/8 x 4").  On this layer I stamped the banner and candles from Stampin' Up "Celebration Time" stamp/die set in both Pool Party and Lemon Lime Twist.  I then on a piece of Very Vanilla card stock (4 x 1 1/2") I wrapped ribbons in stripy Pool Party and stripy Lemon Lime Twist around horizontally; leaving a Very Vanilla strip in between. In my craft stash I found a large light blue brad that I attached to the ribbons.  (The ribbons and brad were secured behind).  This was then layered onto a piece of DSP from Stampin' Up "Wood Textures" and then onto the stamped card stock with double sided tape.

Then I cut another piece of Very Vanilla card stock (1 3/4 x 3 1/8") and layered this onto another piece of the "Wood Textures" DSP creating a small 1/8" edge.  On a scrap of Very Vanilla, I stamped the 'It's Your Birthday' sentiment in the shape of the cake and die cut this out using the Big Shot and the cake die available in this set.  Putting this directly onto the Very Vanilla meant it wasn't very clear; so I sponged Pool Party all around the edge and onto the fancy top and the stand.  Then I popped this up on dimensionals.  Whilst the black Memento ink was out I also stamped the same images as on the background inside the card and onto the envelope to extend the theme of this card.  I also stamped the sentiment "Happy Mail" and the image of the duckling delivering a letter; which helps the recipient of this card know that they are getting something nice rather than a bill!

At the bottom of the card sketch #017 it looked as though there was a knot so, I secured one of the ribbons at the back on the right and the other on the left.  I brought the two ends together in the middle and created a knot and this completed my project.

I love these two colours together, I would not initially have put them together but I went onto Stampin' Up Colour Coach and saw that these were put together with Sahara Sand.  Although I didn't use Sahara Sand I did use a brown in the "Wood Textures" DSP.  If you like my project, please leave me some feedback/comments.

Till next time, keep crafting!
